THE best finished bit on OWS I have seen in the last year. Thanks Jazeera

FINALLY.  Thank you Qatari oil money.

Without question the most fair, professional piece yet.  And certainly useful for teaching, in a way that much footage has not yet been.

It’s 24 mins long.  Please take the time to watch.

At least it’s nice to see that I’m not the only person who can’t talk about the eviction without their voice cracking.

This is for sure the most important forward of the last 3 weeks from me.

Look at these adults, look at these fathers, these chiefs; look how they find it convenient to deal with things, with people protesting for justice, equality, peace. With young people claiming back their world.

A nice flashback that makes me sob my brains out at what our government decided to do to one of the most beautiful things our city had seen in years…

Washington, DC: Scenes from the Occupy DC encampment at McPherson Square, February 7, 2012.

Photos by redguard

Three days ago, Occupy DC was raided by the National Parks Police. Much material was destroyed. Four people were arrested, including one man who was seriously injured; his condition is still unknown. This morning I visited the encampment at McPherson Square to check in.

To clarify: Unlike in New York and some other cities, Occupy DC IS still able to have tents erected in the park. However, the police are now enforcing a sleeping ban, so no one can sleep in them. When I visited this morning, there were at least 30 tents of various sizes throughout the square.

For now, at least, McPherson will continue to serve as Occupy DC’s base of operations. General Assemblies continue to be held nightly; the library, medical tent and other resources are operational. People are recovering from the raid and a consistent theme of people I spoke to (and signs) is that Occupy DC is “remodeling” to focus on community outreach while keeping a secure base.

This week’s action priority is preparing for Occupy CPAC protests co-sponsored with the AFL-CIO at the Conservative Political Action Conference Feb. 9-11.

Supplies, donations and participation are needed. Visit http://occupydc.org for more info.

This is adjusted for inflation. I don’t think our education system is about education anymore.

Dear god. Australia. This is what a police showdown looks like inside of you. I lived in you once upon a time.
