"Crocodile: The country is on the verge of a famine, and the United Nation has warned Mugabe that half of the country’s 12 million people are now in danger of starvation. But he has spurned offers of more international food aid, saying “Why do they want to choke us with their food? We have enough.” And one of his most senior ministers, on hearing of the UN famine projections, implied that such a die-off, at least in opposition areas, was actually desirable. “We would be better off with only six million people, with our own people, who supported the liberation struggle. We don’t want these extra people."

I call it now the ” beautiful-ugly” because if you looked at it in the night and see all these lights , you would think it’s beautiful but if you knew how it looked before , went in there with an Arab so the settlers through stones or even used the road under or even listen to their musical parties at a holy time of prayer for others - you will know how ugly it is now !
And this proves how the occupation destroyed everything even nature !

Settlers torch Ramallah mosque

verbalresistance:

RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — Jewish settlers on Thursday torched a village mosque near Ramallah and sprayed racist graffiti in Hebrew on its walls, witnesses said.

The Al-Nour Mosque in Burqa was still burning when villagers arrived for morning prayers, locals said, adding that the fire had spread to the first and second floors and caused extensive damage.

“Around four in the morning when we arrived to pray the morning prayer we saw the smoke and they wrote in Hebrew on the Mosque. The settlers are attacking us to terrify the villagers, but we are strong,” village council head Abu Mohammed told Reuters TV.

A Reuters video showed damages to the mosque’s carpet as well as Hebrew graffiti reading: “War”.

The attack comes a day after Jewish extremists torched a 13th century mosque in Jerusalem, spraying “Death to the Arabs” and “Muhammad is a pig” on the building.

Despite a string of violent attacks by settlers, including a rampage on an army base, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday rejected a recommendation to classify the Jewish extremists as terrorists.

Settlers frequently desecrate mosques and Muslim cemeteries and destroy Palestinian olive trees and cars. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak told Army Radio on Wednesday settler violence was terrorism.

“In terms of their conduct, there is no doubt that this is the conduct of terrorists: terrorism, albeit Jewish.”

After the Jerusalem mosque attack, Israeli MP Mohammed Barake lashed out at his fellow parliamentarians for fanning the flames of racial hatred with a spate of draft legislation targeting Israel’s Palestinian minority.

“Responsibility for the mosque burning does not only lie with the gang of fascists who carried it out, but also with some of the scumbags among the MPs and ministers,” he said in a statement.

“Those MPs should not pretend they are shocked when the draft laws they back become a raging fire that devours mosques,” he said.

And Emek Shaveh, an Israeli NGO which fights against the manipulation of archaeological sites for political gain, said the attack had damaged an important aspect of local heritage.

The destruction of the antiquities, in this case probably by Israelis, is part of the process of erasure of ‘the other’of everything that doesn’t suit the extremist and one-dimensional ideology of certain Israeli groups,” it said in a statement.

Among the words scrawled on the mosque’s walls were the names of two settlement outposts slated for demolition — such attacks are often linked to government attempts to remove outposts.

The arson attack in Jerusalem occurred just 24 hours after settlers attacked troops and an army base in the northern West Bank in an incident that deeply angered Israel’s leadership.

Several hours earlier, settlers also broke into a closed military zone along the Jordanian border.

Nigerian King Sues Shell for $1 Billion

discoverynews:

A Nigerian king filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Royal Dutch Shell at the federal court in Detroit, Michigan last week.

The US Supreme Court plans to consider the lawsuit in what the AFP called “a landmark case that could make companies liable for torture or genocide committed overseas.”

King Emere Godwin Bebe Okpabi of the Ogoni and four other tribal leaders seek compensation for half a century of pollution from oil extraction and processing that has sickened people and poisoned the land and drinking water.

The civil complaint states that the Nsisioken Ogale community is “exposed to hydrocarbons every day through multiple routes” such as frequent oil spills and pervasive air pollution from refining operations, reported the AFP.

“At all times relevant to this litigation, Defendants knew or should have known that the crude oil contains chemicals hazardous to human health and to the environment and ecosystems,” the complaint said.

42-29124386The AFP noted that the king also accused Shell of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, gross negligence and the violation of international treaties and obligations to the United States and Nigeria.

Along with $1 billion in damages, the lawsuit seeks immediate cleanup of the pollution and an injunction to require air and water monitoring.

The Nigerian plaintiffs filed the suit in a US court because of what they called a historical “culture of impunity” for Shell in Nigeria and “disregard” for the Nigerian judicial process, reported the AFP.

For example, the plaintiffs claim Shell has yet to pay $1.5 billion in pollution damages to the Ijaw Aborigines, or to comply with a 2005 order to end gas flaring in the Iwherekan community.

King Okpabi’s civil complaint relies on the Alien Tort Claims Act of 1789, a law designed to assure foreign governments that the U.S. would uphold international law.

Royal Dutch Shell has a notorious history with the Ogoni People, that escalated during a murder case in 1995 when a Nigerian court ordered the hanging of Kenule “Ken” Beeson Saro-Wiwa along with eight other cultural rights activists.
