What I find to be particularly inflammatory about this piece is the implication that marriage is the top of some sort of pyramid (in this case cake, but still) at which “lesser people” on “larger, lower levels” should naturally be excluded.

Ah, capitalist social imperialism.

Also, note that everyone up there is white.  Cause, while being homophobic, we wouldn’t dare be racist.  That isn’t socially acceptable anymore (and it shouldn’t be).  But gay bashing apparently is.

Is the opera singer marrying the dog?  Is something “wrong” with the guy with the mohawk?  Clowns shouldn’t get married?  There’s a guy in a dress and an old lady…should they not be able to marry someone?  I’m really confused.  I don’t get this cartoon at all.
