Coffee in the desert
Oh that sound. So, this will be an absolutely awful post… but mostly I feel compelled to share a fact of life that you most likely already know. Coffee is amazing. This is especially true in the middle of Rajasthan, a region dominated by dusty desert and ancient traditions of royalty. I just got a real latte, and my mind is somewhat blown by how pleased it has made me. Jodhpur is a...

India is Rediculous
Today was yet another awful but good day. We got off to a ood start, had a great breakfast at last night’s hotel, and were actually able to find a new hotel to spend tonight at. Udaipur, however, is ridiculous. It turns out that half of India is in Rajasthan at the moment, travelling on their school vacations. We went to the City Palace here, the throne (to this day) of the Majarahas...

Oh.. today's holy?
Today started off as the least productive day imaginable, but I have to say it might be one of the most serendipitous days we have had in India thus far. Last night, we took an overnight train from Ajmer to Udaipur, which was relatively fine (we were actually able to sleep, which we weren’t expecting), but arriving in Udaipur has been a bit difficult. Booking hotels in India has generally...

Arrival in Agra
So, I am now in Agra. Scott finally got here five hours late after the blizard that has apparently hit the northeast and europe demolished his flights (I wasn’t aware of any storms so this caught me somewhat unawares), and we left for Agra the next day. Obviously, Agra is where the Taj is, but I didn’t find it to be that impressive. It’s cool from the skyline, but is really...

First day in India...
After a day of flying and failing to sleep or be productive to the levels intended, I finally made it to Delhi today. And what an entrance I made. In going to the ATM, I decided it would be appropriate to leave my passport in the cash delivery tray of said ATM (Val… you did in fact call that this would one day happen.) Then I proceeded to locate the driver I felt I had so smartly reserved...

Abu Dhabi
So, I’m sitting here in Abu Dhabi international airport, and it is quite…. weird. It really is like disney, I can see why everyone says that. There is a mercedes benz giveaway to my right, and the entire setup is designed to look like a behive in neon greens and blues. Unfortunately, there is no wifi (well there are 3 networks but all of them are experienceing “technical...

Further reflections on Frankfurt
So, it’s a little bit funny. I’m sitting here right after I uploaded my last post, and I suddently think I love germany. I signed off and realized I needed to find some food someplace before I had to board the plane, and found a really nice bar on a weird lower level of the airport. Besides the disgusting fact that I was having a liter of beer at 4 am philly time, it was actually...

My god
So, I am sad to report I have discovered an airport that is more of a pile of crap than LAX… Frankfurt international.  It took me four passes through different security checkpoints (all with metal detectors, all with long lines) to get to the gate on my boarding pass. Then, by the time I actually made it there, the gate had changed. Reeeediculous.  Also, I haven’t slept, so maybe...

Blatant Discrimination??
theanniehour: 41% of Pakistanis and 31% of Bangladeshis are denied visas to visit the UK, while that figure is only 14% for India.  Pakistan and Bangladesh are right next to India, but because of the borders that some “almighty” power drew on a map, the people from Bangladesh and Pakistan are discriminated against more strongly. Read this article, it goes more into depth on the reasoning behind...

BA strike faces injunction threat |Business... →
Yes.  It is fine for this union to strike, but if they do, they should be paying all damages to the industry, as well as to individuals’ travel itineraries.  Perhaps the court will recognize that.

Life after Uni
So, I get that this is like, the most overplayed concern to have… “jesus, what should I do with my liberal arts degree after I graduate.” And, frankly, I have no idea. I’m qualified to do a couple things with the experience I have, am pretty confident I can get into grad school relatively successfully (and am in the process of applying), but lately I’ve really...

British Airways Christmas strike set to disrupt 1... →
Crazy… in my experience BA an airline, like Continental, Air France, etc, that people have gone out of their way to get onto, both for luxury and reliability. If this isn’t resolved, it could be a huge hit for the airline’s credibility with travelers.

Win or loose, Clinton goes from Strength to... →
While I don’t have any views on this politicially, it is quite impressive the way Mrs Clinton has been able to increase her powerbase despite a rough year. It’s nice to see the Dept of State be given a lead role in world against yet again.

Opening Post
So here it is: the prerequisite “travel blog.” It has come to my attention that I have been failing to keep up with modern technology recently… and being that my schedule has also caused me to be a relative failure at keeping up with, well, updating people, I figure this might be a decently affective medium. While this is a travel blog in earnest, it’s also a life blog. ...
